Happy Fathers Day!

Lars and I are out of town and don't have pics of our Dads to post so this poem will have to do. Here is to the best Dad's in the world, Steven, Rich, and Ivan. We love you all so much!

We may not shower him with praise
Nor mention his name in song,
And sometimes it seems that we forget
The joy he spreads as he goes along,
But it doesn’t mean that we don’t know
The wonderful role that he has had.
And away down deep in every heart
There’s a place that is just for Dad.....

Bonfire at the Beach

Did I mention I am falling deeply in love with the beach. I have been to the beach here lots of times during the day but not at night. Hooray for friends! They were having a bonfire at Huntington Beach and invited us. It was a blast we had smores and sang songs around the fire. Leighton has a guitar and a Ucayali so he jammed out while some of us sang along. Above all the beach was so beautiful at night. The waves looked like horses racing across the beach and the moon was full. I took pictures but they don't even begin to capture the beaches true beauty.

Me chowing down on the smores! mmm I'm a good cook!

The beach makes you wanna kiss someone

Angela and I modeling. We are so couture!

We were pretty spontaneous about the whole event and stopped at the store on the way to the beach and couldn't find any roasting sticks so we made some out of new fly swatter's. We were proud of out creation and they worked great.

Memorial Day

On Memorial Day we went to the beach with a group of friends. There we played volleyball, threw boomerangs, and danced around in the water. Our friends Leighton and Angela had just gotten back from Australia so they had a boomerang they were throwing around. They taught me how to throw it and I was the only one who was able to throw mine well enough that it came back to me. GO ME!! Then we went to the Tiffany and Nate's house and swam in there pool and had a BBQ. It was a day full of lots of sun and fun.

Girl Time

I love these girls! I wanted to have a girls outing for breakfast and it turned into a Friday night chocolate fondue party and breakfast all in one fabulous weekend. It was a blast! I love being a woman and I love getting my girl time in. We went to Tiffany's house for fondue and watched the chic-flick 27 Dresses. Cuter movie than I thought it was going to be. We laughed and cried and cheered for joy throughout the whole thing.

Always have to have a serious pose, sexy pose, and funny pose.

Then Saturday we met up at Ruby's Diner for breakfast. Here is the story behind this. In Utah, the IHOP there has this delicious breakfast item, cinnamon roll french toast. Well, the IHOP here doesn't have it, so I found a few other restaurants that have this on their menu and I am trying them out to see if they meet the IHOP versions standard that I love so much. Let me tell ya Ruby's was good. I took some leftovers home and it was still good the next day! Definitely will go back for more.

Thanks boys for keeping yourselves busy while the ladies went out. Thanks girls, I had a blast and we will do it again sometime soon.

Once again, always a serious and funny pose. Can you tell which one is which?

Neither can I.

A Simple Kind of Life

At the beginning of May we went to the La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, CA for free. I was there on a work assignment for the weekend. Lars got to come with me and we hung out when I wasn't working, which ended up being more time than I expected. It was the farthest south I have ever been in California. I worked hard while there and learned more about the law firm culture.

On the way down there we stopped at a view point and there were tons of squirrels hanging out waiting for food. They allowed me to get really close to them for a picture.

It was a very nice location just by the beach and it had a golf course. The resort was nice and the food was a hit and a miss, expect for the desserts, they were plated beautifully and tasted good.

This was a fancy version of a smores.

Just chilling at a quiet place.

While there Lars and I played "find all the pools or hot tubs at the resort" while on our walk. They were hidden, but we found all 16 of them. One of them had a water slide. I spent most of my free time there. I love water slides.

It was a fun and interesting weekend, but in the end I decided that if I had a lot of money I wouldn't spend it on the luxuries of a resort. They charge a lot of money for something you can probably get at a Howard Johnson, just with less privacy. I would much rather spend my money on traveling, buying toys for my family and friends to share, or anything for that matter. I am just not a resort kind of girl I guess and I am perfectly fine with that. The more I live the more I prefer the simple pleasures in life. For me those are serving the Lord, being with Lars and someday our kids too, hanging out with family and friends laughing, playing, and eating, smiling, and music. I can't get much richer than having those in my life.

UP

This weekend we saw the Pixar movie UP. I didn't want to see it in the big theater. I was willing to wait until the $1 Theater and plus I thought it was going to be really kiddish. Don't get me wrong. I love kid movies and I love to see them especially with kids. When I see movies with kids I see it through their eyes and enjoy their laughs and comments. Based off the trailers, UP looked really silly and I wasn't sure if I wanted to pay $9.50 for silly. However, Friday night our friends invited us to to see the movie UP with them. I reluctantly said yes to the movie but a firm yes for hanging out. I am a sucker for social things. SO I mostly went to be social but had low expectations for the movie. Man, I am so glad I went. I loved the movie so much! I cried, laughed, cried, and then laughed some more. I left with such an uplifting feeling that I didn't want to watch another movie all weekend long which is very unusual for me. It was such a good movie. The story was very different and the animation was more amazing than any other Pixar film I have seen. This movie is not only for kids, but for adults too. Truly an enjoyable movie. One I will be buying on blu-ray. I highly recommend this movie, it is worth the full price of an evening movie.
In other movie news...Star Trek was so awesome (another blu-ray purchase), Angels and Demons was actually really really good and left me feeling happy as well. Can't wait for Transformers and can't wait for New Moon.

New Moon Trailer came out yesterday!

Yippe!
