Burney Falls V-Town Friends Camping

It's our annual V-Town Camping Trip. This was the 9th year...I think

This year we ventured to Burney Falls in California. We got up super early (4 am) and hit the road for the 10 road trip. The kids were amazing. They slept and kept themselves busy with the car ride bags. We only needed to watch one movie and we made stops here and there to stretch our legs. We made good time and got there shortly after our friends.
We got the campsite set up and the kids started their endless play! When we camp we relax and just roll with whatever. We try to do an activity or two but for the most part we play around the campsite, talk, play games, cook, eat, and relax. With two kids now Lars and I tagged team the kids and tried to keep an eye on them amidst the fun. It worked but I was tried by the end of each day. Its a balance of fun and keeping the kids alive. There were moments I didn't feel like I was camping with Lars because we divided and conquered most of the trip. Lucky us we had our own private getaway planned in the near future.

The campsite was beautiful. Lots of trees and some shade. Close to the bathroom but not too close. Not very close to our neighbors either. Lots of room to be in nature. Everything was so BIG, the stars, the trees, the falls, they were all gorgeous.
First smores of the trip. delicious!!
The kids made their own teeter todder

Lots of napping and playing in the hammock

The kids created a playhouse for their ponies and various lizards they found, some dead, some alive.

Uncle B brought ice cream and we had to eat it before it melted.

We took a group hike to the falls. The temperature was much cooler there and the the falls were stunning. Again, I felt small next to these amazing creations from God. I needed to feel this to process the on going things in my life at this time. It was an amazing blessing.

Two amazing women taking it all in.

Roan and Evelyn became very good friends on this trip. :)
After the falls we went on a hike near by that too us to the top of the fall.
Liv crashed in the middle of it

Camping food always taste amazing!!!
I love camp cooking. It makes me appreciate what I have at home and helps me realize that somethings I have in my kitchen I don't really need.
The ladies and kids went to the lake while the boys went fishing. The water was refreshing and cold.

The boys and their fishing. They did good.
These two were best buds the entire trip. They got into lots of trouble together. They shared things and ate each others food and called each other baby.

These two also became best buds and at one point held hands. ;)
In fact on the last day all the girls fought over who was going to sit by Roan. :) They had him surrounded and he was oblivious to it all.
The kids chanting together about the lizard they found.
We found a river that led to a smaller water fall that many people jumped off. It was cold so we didn't stay too long here but it was still beautiful.

Nelia's Texas rolls cannot be contained. LOL

Entire group shot. It was so much fun! We love our V-Town friends!
The drive home was long. Everyone was tired. The kids did their best to push through.

These yearly camping trips are definitely one of the highlights of the year. Its great to be in nature as a family and with dear friends. Until next year...
